Botanical Blooms (4)

I wanted to make a card using a panel of my own
Designer Specialty  Paper.  My intentions was to make it bright but different from the paper pack on offer from the catalogue. The panel measured 2 3/4" and mounted on a 3" piece.
Two of the leaves and two of the flowers were stamped randomly with the tiny flowers stamp filling in the white spaces.  The larger flowers had their centres stamped and the leaves had their veins stamped with their corresponding stamps. Tone on tone ink was used. The stamped flowers were completed with a rhinestone and Dazzling Details were applied to the tiny flowers.  The card base was also stamped with the tiny flowers stamp. Again tone on tone was used.

The large flower and one each of the leaves were cut using the matching framelits. The cut out leaves were also stamped with the corresponding leaf vein.  The large flower petals edges were sponged and completed with a flower medallion.
A sentiment to the left corner could have been included.  I think I will add this when I give the card away.
If I was to make this card again, I think that I would make the DSP panel smaller, maybe reduce it to 2 1/2". I also think that I would reduce the white spaces by stamping all the images closer or tighter together.  Further, I would rotate it and make a portrait card.
I found this card a great learning project and I am storing all of my suggested improvements in my head for a similar future project.

Botanical Blooms (3) - Elegant Blooms

This by far is my favourite.  I think it is very elegant. I was inspired to make this card after seeing a card posted on Pinterest by Dawn Griffiths.  Again, I set out to make Dawn's card but going through the process I think that I made enough changes  to call my own. The colours are similiar, the flower layout is different and I left off the sentiment completely.
I used cream seam binding ribbon, (but it is no longer available) this could be substituted with similar coloured ribbon or a band of Very Vanilla cardstock.

Botanical Blooms (2)

Purple Bloom

This card is easy to make. The card base used Elegant Eggplant cardstock.  A piece of vellum measuring 2 1/2 x 5 5/8" from the Botanicals Garden Vellum Pack (from Sale-A-Bration) was adhered to the right side with glue dots. Attach a piece of Wisteria Wonder ribbon using a cheat knot for a bow. Layer a piece of Elegant Eggplant (3x3") with the same vellum (2 3/4 x 2 3/4") and adhere with glue dots. From scraps of Wisteria Wonder and framelits cut out one of the largest and 3 of the smallest flowers.
Sponge the flower edges with Elegant Eggplant. Adhere in place and complete the large flower with one Botanical Gardens Jewel and the small flowers with the smallest rhinestones. Add a few more rhinestones.

Hint - when adhering vellum with glue dots, use embellishments and ribbon to camouflage.

Card Classes are not too far away!

During January and February the Botanical Blooms and Bloomin' Love bundles will feature in the cards made in class.

Here are some examples taken from the Handmade from the Heart Occassions Stampin' Up  catalogue, available from 5th January to 31st May.

I have made some of my own cards using these bundles and I will be posting these in the near future.  I have already shared some items using the Botanical bundle but I have some newer ones to share as well!

As well as showcasing new product in class I will be also using stamp sets from the Annual catalogue.  Often these wonderful sets of stamps are overlooked in our enthusiasm for what's new.

Gorgeous Grunge, an all time favourite  and Lighthearted Leaves stamp sets will be included in the classes.  Lighthearted Leaves stamp set was  from the last holiday brochure.  This stamp set became a favourite of mine and we didn't get a chance to use it in last year's classes, so I have carried it over. There may even be some surprises for you to choose from too.

Botanical Gardens

Well we're into the new year already! I hope it has started well for you.
I have been slow with my card making.  My crafting room has been too hot and I couldn't cope with walking back and forth to the air conditioned rooms.  There was always something I needed in the other room.  But I did manage to to make a few things.
I did purchase the Botanical Blooms bundle set of stamps, framelits and designer series paper. Bundles are always a great buy!
Whenever I get a new set of stamps, I like to have a play with them first.  Sometimes being creative and original is not always there.  For instance, I find the bold colour scheme a little confronting in the DSP and off putting.   So I start making the examples from the new brochure and then ideas start developing  with what I might do with them.
With page 26 opened before me, I thought I would begin with the gift bag with gift tag attached, then the card and have a go at making a dimensional flower.
Of course my finished projects are not exactly the same as in the brouchure, using a preferred colour, altering the layout a little and using different sentiments make them more me!
See what you think!

Then I came back a little latter and made my own card - Hello

I used Gajun Craze cardstock for the card base and stamin of the flower. Also used Crushed Curry cardstock for the second layer and main flower.
The sentiment from 'Because You Care' stamp set was stamped with Gajun Craze ink on a piece of Whisper White. The edges were sponged with Gajun Craze and so too was the main flower.
The two small flowers were cut from Mint Macaron.
The top layer and the two strips used the co-ordinating DSP.
The flowers were completed with Rhinestones.
