Cards made in my February Stamp Class.

The Petal Pallette stamp set from the Occassions catalogue and the Amazing You stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration brochure featured in this class.  These two stamp set make some very pretty cards. The cards chosen for this class were very pretty and kept the class busy with lots to do. This class had it all.
In the first card you got to make a watercolour wash background with an aqua painter, stamping and embossing on vellum, using the Stitched Shape Framelit to cut out, stamping, fussy cutting and decorating with ribbon and rhinestones.
In the second card you coloured with Stampin' Blends on Petal Passion DSP before assembling the card.
The third card featured background stamping, embossing, cutting using framelits and some fussy cutting as well!

Making Cards using the Picture Perfect 6x6" Designer Series Paper

I loved this stack of designer papers using photographic party images but when I went to use them I got stuck! So I went to Youtube and found a video by Susanne Netz (SuNN Stamper), a Canadian Demonstrator who had the same problem but came up with some lovely cards.
I set about making them and while doing that ideas started forming in my head.I have included them in today's post as I thought it may be a starting point for you too!

The next card is an original from me.  I wanted to show the party hats but thought any stamping on it would be lost! So the problem is solved by stamping on vellum.

Making More Cards using Blenders and the Petal Passion DSP

I didn't stop with colouring one design sheet from the set.  In this post I will share what I did with another design with colouring tips, layouts, techniques and more to make beautiful cards.
Again I started with cutting the sheet into smaller sections of 6x4" to work with. I chose to use my blends to colour with.  Each section looks a little different due to the design.  I had fun using different colours.  You can choose your own colour scheme.
When colouring you aim to have light and dark or variation in colour to show shadow, depths or highlights.  This paper shows you where to do this. Begin with the light shade and add the darker shade to the grey areas and finish by blending or colouring over with the lighter shade to complete the blending. Extra highlights can be added by using the Colour Lifter.
Here's what I did with my coloured sections.

  1. Simple layout featuring three bands of ribbon with a bow.
  2. In this card the 6x4" section was cut lengthwise, with one panel used on the card and the remaining pieces was adhered to the flap of the matching envelope.
  3. This card features the 'Spotlight' technique. One flower and leaf was chosen to colour to highlight  a section of the designer paper.
  4. The next two cards use the same layout. The section was cut on a diagonal and used to make two similar but different cards. Love both cards but I think a black and white card with a bit of bling is always stunning.

Colouring with Stampin' Blenders on Petal Passion Designer Series Paper

I have been having so much fun using my Stampin' Blends with this DSP.  I love colouring and you don't need to have great skills to achieve fantastic results.
Before starting, cut the 12x12" sheets down to a more workable size, usually 4x6".  Here is one sample.

Now work out how you are going to colour it.  With my project I chose to use my Stampin' Blenders but you could also use water colour pencils.
I coloured it in three different ways-

  1.  the background only
  2. flowers and leaves
  3. all

Here are the cards I made.  No fancy colouring. The first background was coloured with Light Crumb Cake.  The second card flowers used both Pink Pirouette Blends.  With the darker blend crisscrossing  the centres and then colour over the whole of the flower with the lighter blend.  Finish the leaves in light Old Olive.  The third card was a combination of the previous two.

My January Stamp Class featured the Picture Perfect Party Suite and Party Pandas Stamp Set

I have found the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set to be a very useful set and used it in quite a few birthday cards that I have made for family and friends. We all make birthday cards so I thought this would be the first set to demonstrate from the new Occassions catalogue in my January stamp class.
The other stamp set  featured was Party Pandas from the Sale-A-bration Brochure. These pandas are very cute and playful. Who couldn't love them!
